2027 Safari Art Retreat – South Africa
Exciting news! I am planning my first ever Artists and Illustrator Retreat.
It will be held in South Africa, in 2027.
The retreat will include 5-7 days of immersive, uniquely South African wildlife, nature and cultural experiences, with loads of time for sketchbook work and colour experimentation. The retreat is for any artist who would like to experience South Africa in a small, safe, creative and guided group, where you will have room to explore ideas, sketch in the wild, share, and develop your own sketchbook practice. Numbers will be limited to 8-10 participants.

Art Workshops in Westville, KZN
I am planning art and illustration workshops that will be held at my home studio in Westville North, KZN starting from late 2026 or early 2027.
My studio
My studio is set in a large lush garden, overlooking the Palmiet Nature Reserve. The views are spectacular and the environment is peaceful and quiet, with loads of birdlife.
Workshop topics I am thinking of offering
- Sketchbook drawing outside in a large, lush, garden setting – with a special focus on experimenting with limited colour palettes
- Nature Journaling basics
- Drawing and painting your own pet’s portrait
- Drawing and painting faces
- Drawing and painting hands
- Life Drawing – figure drawing and gesture drawing
- Mixed media experimentation
- Children’s book illustration course – run over a number of sessions
Who is it for
My art and illustration workshops will be tailored to a variety of skill levels, from beginner to professional artist. Workshops will start with a presentation, then time for making art with assistance and feedback from myself if wanted, or it can just be a peaceful space for you to come and create whatever you want.
Workshops will be open to adults, and children over the age of 15.
Why this is different from “Paint and Sip” events
Each attendee will create their own individual art – we will not all be step-by-step making the same image but rather work independently with guidance and suggestions as needed, in a relaxed and friendly environment. You will have a unique creative piece, not the same thing as everyone else. (This will give you confidence to create on your own, if you are a beginner, and to call yourself an artist!)
